Harbor Willow
Harbor Willow — our home in Shau Kei Wan

Our Story

Built on the belief that later life deserves a beautiful home

Harbor Willow was founded with a single idea: that elderly adults in Hong Kong deserve a place that feels genuinely like home — not a ward, not a waiting room, but a living space full of warmth.

Who We Are

Harbor Willow — A Home Rooted in Care

Harbor Willow opened its doors in 2011 at 14 Sai Wan Ho Street, a short walk from the harbour in Shau Kei Wan. The founders — a social worker and a retired teacher — had watched family members navigate Hong Kong's care landscape and felt something was missing: a residential option that combined the attentiveness of professional support with the atmosphere of a proper home.

Over the years, the home has grown gently. We have not expanded to multiple branches or scaled for scale's sake. What we have refined is what happens within these walls — the quality of meals, the thoughtfulness of the daily programme, the way staff greet each resident by name and remember their preferences.

Our mission remains what it has always been: to offer elderly adults a place where they are known, respected, and genuinely at ease.

What Guides Us

Our Values

Genuine Warmth

We believe that care, at its finest, is an expression of human connection. Every interaction at Harbor Willow — however small — is shaped by patience, respect, and a sincere interest in the person.

Quiet Dignity

Growing older does not diminish a person's need for beauty, meaning, or autonomy. We shape daily life here around preserving each resident's sense of self and personal rhythm.

Honest Transparency

We are clear about what we do and what we do not do. Families deserve honesty — about our services, our capacities, and what life at Harbor Willow truly looks like from day to day.

Our Standards

Quality & Safety Approach

These are the commitments that shape how we maintain the home and support everyone in it.

Personal Safety Protocols

Our premises are designed with mobility safety in mind — handrails throughout, non-slip flooring, and well-lit corridors. Staff conduct regular room checks day and night.

Nutrition Standards

Meals are planned with the guidance of a nutrition consultant to reflect the dietary needs of elderly adults. Seasonal, locally sourced ingredients are preferred.

Hygiene & Housekeeping

The home is cleaned thoroughly each morning. Weekly deep housekeeping and laundry services maintain a fresh and comfortable environment for all residents.

Privacy & Data Protection

Resident and family information is held in confidence and stored with care in accordance with Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.

Family Communication

Families receive timely updates when needed and are always welcome to call or visit. We do not leave families wondering how a loved one is getting on.

Continuous Improvement

We seek feedback from residents and families each quarter. Our team reviews this input thoughtfully and uses it to make adjustments, large or small.

Residential Care in Hong Kong — A Different Kind of Home

Shau Kei Wan has a particular quality that suits a home like ours: the harbour nearby, the morning markets, the neighbourly atmosphere of an area that has not lost its character. Elderly adults who move to Harbor Willow often say they feel connected to the city even as they settle into a slower, gentler pace of daily life.

Harbor Willow offers non-medical residential care — meaning our support is built around companionship, routine, nourishment, and a comfortable physical environment. We are not a nursing home. We do not provide clinical services. What we do provide is a home that takes its responsibilities to each resident seriously: to know them well, to respect their preferences, and to keep them comfortable day after day.

Families exploring residential options in Hong Kong will find that Harbor Willow sits in a quiet space between independent living and full nursing care — well-suited to elderly adults who are largely independent but benefit from the structure, companionship, and reassurance of a well-maintained residence.
